START SOMEWHERE...

How many of us entrepreneurs have fallen victim to thinking that the success of your first business determines your future business successes? How many times have we thought about walking away from pursuing our passions?

Speaking for myself, plenty of times. I thought that Strength in Diversity was my permanent loaf of bread in the bread aisle... You know there are 50 million brands of bread, but that doesn't stop the next baker from trying. So I kept trying. It may have not been a permanent loaf, but it was the first loaf!

I had spent the previous 12 years working in a field I could no longer stand. Anyone who has worked in Business Development for a Mental Health or Substance abuse facility - no matter the level can tell you the same thing. That position is morally taxing on many levels and dealing with it is not an easy task. The easiest way to deal unfortunately, is to pursue work at another facility when it's too much to bear. A required shuffle to retain financial stability, morality and sanity- a cycle I no longer wanted part of. We have all fallen prey to pushing aside personal goals when overtime or additional pay is offered...

What I initially missed during the active time of Strength of Diversity wasn't noticed until I lost my grandfather in 2019. I had been so consumed with working extremely hard to have the financial means to support my dreams and the dreams of others, I didn't realize how much time was lost. I spent so much time chasing money that I missed times before his decline that I could have soaked up so much knowledge as his apprentice. Knowledge that is way more valuable than any employer! I dreamed of my grandfather assisting me building and cultivating my land, but now he's gone.

I walked away from substance abuse facility business development work that year. It was the best decision that I have ever made. Although service work has always been a part of my life, I needed to address from a different angle. I originally pursued Psychology in my undergraduate studies to understand the addicted and compulsive mind, conditioning, positive and negative reinforcement and rewiring. I wanted to provide service in a realm that heals, not destroys the human body.

Since 2019, I have worked actively with cannabis community, assisting individuals that have some of the debilitating conditions that cannabis can address; Autism, Cancer, Glaucoma, Weight Management and Chronic pain. Working with plants and cannabis as restored that level of humanity. I love to cultivate the earth, I love to build/work with my hands, and I love to share! I am very passionate about the effects of emotional effect on the human body, the relationship of food; in addition to the cultivation and applicable treatments of the major and minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids of cannabis and their application in medical science. I was diagnosed with trauma induced glaucoma after a left eye injury at the age of 16. I also have addressed personal food addiction from trauma work and dietary changes as well. I truly seek to cultivate land as a farmer, educating and enjoying preparing good food and medicine grown from seed to table.
